I’m really glad to hear him include Christianity in his talks. Western thinkers need to merge the good thinking of various religions. Buddhist teachings don’t go against many of their current beliefs they just don’t know it yet.

@maddadam – Life’s not about material experiences, but spiritual ones. The purpose of it is to learn to love, and part of that is material detachment.
@zaiking007 why would you want to detach yourself though? i’ve also studied albert einstein, and he seems to have the same detached persona. You would think if they were that smart they would realize life is about experiences and detachment limits that. through detachment you cannot reach the most powerful emotions. Isn’t that what life’s about? i guess that would be seflish though to want to get the most out of life. seems the only way to reach true detachment would be to first be truly selfles
@nameboyd he was being taught by masters who pasted these “THINGS” onto him, in which he is now happy to pass them onto us. He is “REPEATING” his idea many times during this, of course, that is what the entire video is about! But he is changing the scenarios and trying o reach every aspect of it, unlike yourself who thinks he sees it as one thing. We are all messengers or things we have been taught, even things we taught ourselves. I would say, “I will consider what he has said”

I’m afraid that is a misinterpretation. You cannot achieve enlightenment from psychedelic drugs. It must be attained from within.
I believe the definition of nirvana was the extinguishing of earthly desires and attachment.
I have suffered from extreme clinical depression in my young life and was stricken with apathy (complete lack of all emotions. I felt nothing). It basically had extinguished everything BUT suffering. Mental illness is more like the complete opposite of nirvana.
